GIT – Q. I’m running application called Urchin or Analytics under and I’m getting the error that read as follows:
ERROR: (8011-323-1057) Failed to allocate memory

How do I fix this error?

A. Urchin is used to analyze web server log file content and display the traffic information on that website based upon the log data.

According to Google Urchin support pages – FreeBSD has a hard-coded process datasize limit of 500MB. This limit is exceeded because of Urchin’s geodata that must be memory resident during log processing. As a result, you will see the following runtime error:

ERROR: (8011-323-1057) Failed to allocate memory

To fix this issue, you’ll need to increase the FreeBSD system’s default process datasize, which you can do by editing the /boot/loader.conf file, enter:

# vi /boot/loader.conf

Append the following lines

# Increase max process data segment size to 1GB
kern.maxdsiz="1073741824"

Reboot the system to accept new changes, enter:

# reboot
